Privacy Policy

At Hometown Music Council (“HMC”), the privacy of information we collect is extremely important to us, especially in the context of education.   We believe in transparency and giving parents the information they need to determine what’s best for their child and their child's education.  As such we have developed this privacy policy. This Privacy Policy applies to all of products, services and websites offered by HMC on our various websites (“Sites”). If you have any questions, inquiries or complaints about this Privacy Policy or other privacy matters regarding HMC, please contact us: We commit to responding to questions, inquiries and complaints in a timely manner. We are committed to protecting the privacy of all submitters on our Sites. The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to provide information regarding the collection, use and disclosure of information collected from individuals who access and participate in the programs on our Sites. We closely monitor our collection, storage, use and disclosure of information to ensure it is held securely and confidentially at all times. As an organization who works closely with children we recognize there are unique issues and concerns regarding the collection of information. We do not allow submissions from children under the age of 18 and require that a parent, legal guardian or teacher with parental consent complete submissions.  For all submissions we limit the information collected and published about children to: school name, grade, city and province/territory. Information Collected When parents, legal guardians or teachers submit content we require information from them for verification purposes, such as their email address and a social media account name.  For each submission we also request the name of the student’s school, grade, city and province/territory.  HMC may also employ cookies on its Sites to track the number of visitors. We do not extract personal information through use of cookies. Use of information We collect personal information from submitters exclusively for the purposes of confirming submissions and showcasing the school names, cities and provinces or territories participating.  We will store personal information in a secure manner for only as long as is reasonably necessary to achieve the purposes for which information was collected. Information disclosed from submitters We limit disclosure of the unpublished information collected to employees and independent contractors of HMC, our third party service providers (submission software providers) and as we may be required to disclose by law. Our third party service providers may not use the information for purposes other than internal support functions for HMC and have agreed to maintain the confidentiality of such information. Third Party Service Providers Information collected is stored through third party service providers. HMC exclusively uses third parties that are subject to similar privacy policies as ours and have in place demonstrable and highly secure protections and safeguards for information use. Contracts in place with all third party service providers ensure that this information is not used for other purposes and that confidentiality is maintained at all times. Safeguards to protect personal information We ensure that any information collected has physical and electronic safeguards (password protection, encrypted donation and registration data, SSL protection, and limited access to staff) that ensure information is securely protected. Changes To This Privacy Policy HMC may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on the Site. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
